Open CanoeingInterested in open boating? This page is dedicated to open boating activities within Adur Canoe Club.Over the years a number of people have developed a love of open boating specialising in opens while others have simply added another interest to their paddling. Wherever your interest leads you we hope we can support and expand your paddling.
Who can open boat?
Everyone, either solo or tandem, with a partner.
Open boats come in all different shapes and sizes and are ideal for family groups, touring and camping trips.
Equally, more specialised boats are good for rodeo and white water paddling.
The Adur Canoe club has a fleet of 5 boats. These consist of: 3 x Old Town 158, a 169, a Scout. They are broadly, general purpose boats and are available for club members to use. Annually a number of trips take place. Some are touring trips run by the club such as, our trip to Scotland where six paddlers, in three tandem boats, paddled the Spey.
Other trips are as a part of the OCA events and can be single day or camping and touring trips.
Several day trips on local rivers also take place each year.
Whilst these tend to be for all paddlers there is frequently a good turn out of open boats.
